The standard GSC2 model processes a wide range of films (PP, PE, LDPE, PET, PVC), papers from 18 g/m² to 500 g/m², nonwovens, membranes and flexible products such as flexible conductor films, photovoltaic films and printed circuits. Our cutting machines cut your materials accurately and cleanly. The cutting machine is used primarily in:

Versatile guillotine cutting system

The GSC2 guillotine cutting system uses a 700 mm-wide self-sharpening guillotine blade.

  • Cutting width up to 700 mm; material-flow direction configurable when ordering
  • Speed up to 30 m/min; positioning accuracy ± 0.1 mm

The GSC2 Guillotine Cutter is a film cutting machine for industrial use, consistently cutting paper, nonwoven and film webs to the set length. The machine offers a wide range of functions::

Integration into a production line or use as a stand-alone solutiong

The GSC2 cutting machine can be integrated into production lines or used as a stand-alone machine.

  • In production lines: It can be positioned easily downstream of a laminator or another system. An integrated dancer roller detects the web speed and automatically regulates the process speed.
  • Stand-alone operation: For cutting from the roll, the guillotine cutter is equipped with a roll unwinder and outfeed table, speeding up the cutting process. The compact version is available for simple, lightweight rolls up to 50 kg and 250 mm in diameter. The large unwinder version enables unattended processing of rolls up to 300 kg and 600 mm in diameter. Pneumatic unwinder shafts are available in 3″ and 6″ versions.

FAQ

Depending on the material to be cut or the level of adhesion, a guillotine blade, a cross-cut with a stationary blade, or a fixed or rotating circular blade can be used. For films with very poor adhesion, such as adhesion films, crush cutting is recommended. In this process, the material is not cut; it is pinched off. For materials such as foam or felt, a burst cut is used; this works with a rapidly rotating circular blade.

The term cross cutter is essentially an umbrella term for cutting a web to length. The cross-cutting principle can be a guillotine, burst, rotary or crush cut. The GSC2 is a cross cutter that works according to the guillotine cutting principle. A slitter, or slitting machine, differs from this by trimming a web along the side — also known as edge trimming. When strips are cut, this is referred to as a slitting or multi-slit system.

A guillotine cutter consists of a movable guillotine blade and a die. The guillotine blade lowers and slides along the die. It touches the die at only one point — with a scissor-like blade offset, as with normal household scissors. This sharpens the blade with every cut. Depending on the material to be cut, the blade offset must be set differently.

With cross-cutting, a material web is cut to length or a sheet is shortened. The cutting direction runs at 90° to the material-flow direction.

With slitting, a material web is trimmed along the side (edge trimming), divided or cut into strips. A stationary blade, circular blade or crush-cut blade can be used.

Yes, this is possible. With the GSC2 from Fetzel Maschinenbau, slitting followed by cross-cutting is possible.

The guillotine blade self-sharpens through contact with the dies. Abrasive materials, such as copper on flexible circuits, wear the blade more heavily. This means that with these materials, the blade may need to be reground or replaced after several hundred thousand cuts.

A guillotine blade can be replaced using standard tools. Allow around one hour for this.

There are cutting machines, such as the GSC2 from Fetzel Maschinenbau, that support both options. A preset speed can be selected, or a material web can be guided over the built-in dancer roller. The cutting machine with guillotine blade then automatically operates at the same speed as the upstream machine.
