Our contract manufacturing services

  • Lot sizes: prototypes, individual parts, small series and batches of up to approx. 1,000 units, including small-batch CNC machining
  • CNC machining: aluminium, brass, steel, stainless steel, titanium and various plastics
  • SLS 3D printing (Nylon PA12) for prototypes and small series
  • Part cleaning in a cleaning system
  • Quality control of product characteristics: inspection of dimensional, form and positional tolerances using various measuring systems
  • Transparency: networked machines and an ERP system provide a clear overview of schedules, production status and batches

As an additional service, we offer design reviews. Together, we analyse your drawings to identify ways to simplify the design — for example, by combining parts or optimising them for production. This can reduce overall costs in contract manufacturing.

Contract CNC machining

Fetzel Maschinenbau provides CNC milling services and CNC turning services in-house, producing parts in a wide range of designs and sizes. You benefit from a broad range of machining options within our contract manufacturing services.

Marking and surface treatment

On request, we can arrange laser marking or one of the following surface treatments for your CNC-manufactured parts:

  • Anodising (various colours) and hard anodising
  • Electroless and electroplated nickel plating
  • Zinc plating
  • Nitrocarburising and gas nitriding
  • Powder coating

CNC milled and turned parts

With our five CNC milling machines in a range of configurations and a 5-axis machining centre with an 18-station pallet changer, we manufacture CNC milled parts as part of our contract manufacturing services. Integrated tool measurement and optimised workholding systems support flexible production workflows.

CNC turned parts are produced on automatic lathes with and without pick-up spindles, equipped with driven tools, bar feeders and robotic support.

Precision and complete machining

For high-precision CNC machining, we use modern 5-axis CNC machining centres for milling to 10 µm. Parts requiring both CNC milling and turning are produced in our specialised 7-axis turning/milling centres, providing multi-axis CNC machining and complete machining in a single operation with maximum precision.

Assembly

We assemble your components — mechanically, electronically or pneumatically — into complete assemblies. This helps you save internal resources and gives you tailored, ready-to-install parts.

We can carry out tasks such as:

  • screw fastening, including to a specified torque
  • riveting, bonding, press-fitting and shrink-fitting
  • soldering, wiring and hose/tubing installation
  • inspection and testing
  • packaging and shipping

Contract manufacturing in 3D printing

SLS 3D printing with Nylon PA12

With our 3D printer, we use selective laser sintering (SLS) with Nylon PA12. You benefit from efficient development processes, prototypes or small series without tooling costs, and precision down to 100 µm. We turn complex designs into functional components — even ones that may seem impossible to produce. The advantages at a glance:

  • Rapid production of prototypes
  • Design optimisation for 3D printing: we refine your design specifically for 3D printing and integrate additional functions where required.
  • Production of small series and complex geometries
  • Functional components straight from the 3D printer: maximum component size: 165 × 165 × 300 mm

Process chain through to the finished part

In SLS 3D printing, we provide the complete manufacturing process from CAD model to ready-to-use component, all from a single source. Dimensional tolerance: 110 µm. SLS 3D printing is particularly strong in mechanical engineering and product design.

Alongside the precision laser-sintering printer, we have an unpacking and powder-mixing station. An automatic blasting system with plastic beads completes the additive-manufacturing process. If required, post-processing is carried out on our CNC turning/milling machines.

From robust housings and precise gears to flexible hinges: we also use 3D-printed parts in our own laminators and cutting machines.

Complete post-processing

After SLS 3D printing, the parts are blasted to achieve a uniform matt surface. For functional surfaces or tight fits, additional mechanical CNC post-processing is possible.

Manufacturing processes and quality management

Quality control for CNC machining and SLS 3D printing

Your requirements for dimensional and surface tolerances are our top priority. As part of our quality control, we carry out CMM inspection on a tactile 5-axis coordinate measuring machine (CMM) with an automatic probe changer and scanning function. This enables us to check all dimensions and measuring points, including form and positional tolerances. We can provide a measurement report on request.

Surface quality is becoming increasingly important for CNC-manufactured parts. Customer requirements range from “surface finish unimportant” to “absolutely scratch-free” and “perfectly deburred”. Our specialists are fully prepared to meet this wide range of requirements.

End-to-end traceability

We offer professional batch and serial-number management. This ensures full product transparency and legally sound documentation:

  • Every production lot receives a unique identifier, including documentation of the raw materials and components
  • Serial-number management is handled individually for each product and includes the complete production and service history

Process planning and networking

We have been working with an ERP system since the 1990s. This gives us a complete digital overview of all production orders. Live information is available on stock levels of raw materials, standard parts and finished parts.

This enables us to provide a precise expected delivery time as early as the quotation stage. We also tell you exactly when your parts will leave our facility.

Networking all machines with the programming system, tool management, tool measurement and ERP system ensures a seamless manufacturing process.

A specialised AI system helps us compare and read your drawings accurately, so that no change or tolerance is overlooked. We also use AI-based knowledge management to document the know-how we have built up over almost five decades of mechanical engineering.

Data exchange for CNC machining and SLS 3D printing

We prefer STEP AP203/214 files (.step, .stp) or native SolidWorks files (3D, version 2025). If you work with another CAD/CAM format, please get in touch so we can discuss it with you. Other file formats are possible by arrangement.
